The Château

The Château is 160 years old. Built during the reign of Louis Philippe, not for defence but to impress. The 9 acre park surrounding the Château provides a restful environment.
Your stay at the Château will be a memorable one, not just for the good food, wine and company but also for the experience of stepping back in time. The five bedrooms in the Château, all named after local rivers, are light and airy and the decoration will allow you a peek into the era of Louis Philippe, though with the benefit of modern conveniences!
All of the bedrooms in the Château (and in the Trincou Summer House) have ensuite bathrooms – all recently renovated, three with walk in showers, two with baths. Subject to availability, we can accommodate guests wanting a king size bed, a double or queen size bed in one room, those wanting two double beds in one room or two single beds in one room. So we can mix and match to meet your needs!
All of our rooms have pretty views, either over the village with its medieval church (St. Martial) or the Chateau’s gardens with its tree lined alleys.

In the licensed bar, as a guest of the Château, at the end of the day, you can sit and relax with your glass of champagne, your elegant Chateau ‘Campari Martini’, Gin & Tonic or a bottle of local Bergerac wine from our cellar, or you can enjoy your cocktail on the Chateau’s magnificent terrace, enjoying the fresh air and sun, shaded by the umbrellas.
After dinner, whether taken in the Château or out at a local restaurant, you can wander out through the French windows from our lounge or library, with an after dinner drink, coffee or tea, to watch the sun go down or to refresh in the cool late evening air.
Château dining excels under the direction and expertise of Bill Davies. His unique and creative skills give guests a gourmet French dining experience which changes with the seasons and with the local produce, often from the Château’s own kitchen garden. The produce from our local farms allows us to serve you splendidly fresh produce – local pork, lamb, duck. Terroir, flavour, presentation - all so important to the French – are marvellously paired with superb local wines – red, white or rose (your choice each night).
Kitchen management and the fact that everything served is created from scratch here on the premises, allows for complete protection of our coeliac guests (and those who have other special diet needs) from any cross contamination issues and yet also provides our non coeliac guests with the French dining experience they expect – with French breads, croissants etc. For our full board Holidays for coeliacs please visit www.chateaudevillars.co.uk).
Sorry, but no pets are permitted at the Chateau. It’s the territory of the Owners Pembroke Corgis!
And, for insurance and safety reasons, smoking is only permitted outside on the terraces or in the grounds, and where it does not disturb the comfort of our non-smoking guests. Thank you for your consideration.
