Publicity is prone to exaggeration. We will leave it to our guests to persuade you, that if anything, ours is understated!

From the moment you turn into the tree-lined drive to the Chateau until you are looking at the same view in your rear-view mirror, you will know you have found a very special place! Kevin’s warm welcome on the steps, the lovely decor, the comfort of the rooms, fabulous gardens and pool, the ‘honesty bar’ policy – you could imagine this was your family home in the Dordogne! Dinner in the evening is a special affair – a gathering around a large table on the terrace (weather was wonderful during our stay!), meeting new people, enjoying Bill’s wonderful cooking and Kevin’s gracious hosting, not to mention their after-dinner tales…wonderful! If, like my husband and I, you have no specific dietary requirements other than a love of good food, do not concern yourself that Bill specialises in a gluten-free kitchen – his food is delicious and I know that the coeliacs at the table appreciated being able to relax and eat normally with the rest of us without having to question th ingredients. The location of the Chateau is superb – in a beautiful area near some stunning french towns and villages. If you don’t want the hassle of car-hire, Kevin will pick you up from the nearest airport and act as your local guide and escort during your stay – the ultimate in a relaxing holiday. Don’t think twice about where to stay in this area of France – you will love it!

It’s a small hotel where you are made to feel ‘at home’ and part of the family. Lovely, peaceful, location that is conducive to total relaxation. Good food, tastefully presented, with wines that tickle them pallet. A refreshing experience away from the bustle of daily life.

“You have certainly created a little bit of heaven…”
“Thank you for a most memorable holiday which far exceeded our expectations. The scenery was so beautiful, the food imaginative and your expertise in creating the social interaction of all your guests made everyone feel at ease.”
You have something very special here, thank you for letting us share it with you.”

“Lovely week. Brilliant company, fantastic food. Very relaxing. The countryside around here is so beautiful. Perfect holiday.”
“A lovely relaxed happy atmosphere – ideal for recharging the batteries. You have looked after us superbly.”
“We honestly could not have chosen a better holiday, everything to us was more than we had expected.”
“This has been a holiday to remember for always. Seldom does one find a place where the hospitality is so fantastic that one doesn’t realise how much one is relaxing because one is to relaxed to realise it! You provide a home from home with superb food and company in a landscape so breathtaking to tourist and painter alike that it is almost dreamlike. You have something very special.”

“When compared to holidays of the past this was truly unique. We came to see the sights and play golf but found much more! Unlimited help to organise our days and concern that all went to plan. Wonderful laughter filled evenings with new friends.”
“Your care for us in catering for our every need was superb. We have just had to book for next year!”
” The Chateau experience we shall never forget.”
“A coeliacs paradise!”
“Many thanks for a totally different and relaxing holiday. We didn’t know what to expect but were not
disappointed. The excellent hospitality, good food and a lively group of coeliacs (and normal people) ensured that we thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villars.”
“We cannot thank you enough for our wonderful holiday – we both agree it was the best holiday we have ever had. Beautiful food in the warmest of homes & blessed with wonderful people and the bonus of canine company. “

Villars – Early Morning
Barry Norris, August 2007
The air is sharp and clean –
and the sounds of morning
cling and accumulate
like calcite drops –
a scrape-throat crow,
the long, lonely bellow
of a hound, a cockerel,
the crunch of gravel.
By the pool, the sun-shades
slump their heavy shoulders.
the trees drip their early dew,
their shadows shivering on the lawn.
flowers, each day brighter,
open their petals and yawn.
and slowly the urgent clocks
forget to tell the time.
The sun slips slower
across the expanding sky.
the hours of each day
fall like tired leaves
into the Trincou and the Dronne,
and the tranquil minutes
trickle slowly to the sea,
irretrievable and gone.
